Details:
The observance honors all veterans and pays special homage to New Yorkers who gave their lives in the Civil War. Many heritage groups and veteran’s organizations as well as public officials and other dignitaries will participate. They will be joined by 75 active-duty sailors and Marines. 15 organizations will place wreaths at the portal of the monument. Special tribute will be paid to the historic 7th Regiment. There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reconstructed South Plaza , in support of which New York Caledonian Club testified at city hearings.
